What is a root canal?
A root canal repairs and saves a tooth that is badly decayed or infected. The dentist removes the damaged area of the tooth (the pulp), cleans and disinfects it, and then fills and seals it. Root canal procedures have advanced significantly, making them as comfortable as routine dental fillings. Local anesthetics and precise techniques ensure that the process is typically pain-free.

How is root canal treatment performed?
Our dentists will examine your teeth, check your oral health history, and take necessary X-rays. The area around the tooth is then numbed with local anesthesia to make the procedure more comfortable. The dentist removes the diseased tooth pulp, fills the open roots with a biocompatible material, and seals them with adhesive cement. After the root canal, your tooth may need a crown to protect it from fracturing and restore it to full function.

How long does the pain from a root canal last?
Most patients experience relief from severe pain immediately after the procedure. It is common to feel some sensitivity or mild discomfort for a few days after a root canal as your body undergoes natural healing. Over-the-counter pain medications are usually sufficient to relieve pain, but our team can also prescribe more potent pain relief if needed. It’s essential to follow all aftercare instructions and avoid chewing on the treated tooth until it is fully restored by a crown or filling to prevent damage.
